The program of the final conference is now closed, and the project partners are working to finalise the last details in order to make the project closure event as interesting and efficient as possible. Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of the situation, it has been opted once again for the remote modality. The event will take place online on Thursday 24th June, from 14:00 to 17:30 (CET). To ease the participation of lawyers from different countries, interpretation to different national language will be provided (Bulgarian, Italian, Spanish).

The conference will serve the purpose of presenting the results achieved by the project, as well as its main findings in terms of shortcomings and needs identified, after more than two years devoted to making lawyers aware of the Charter of fundamental rights of the EU as well as of their key role in the field of fundamental rights. A particular attention will be given also to the future and to the next steps to take, considering the recent developments at EU level.

Speakers from different countries and backgrounds will join the conference. After an introduction by the project coordinator, it will be EU level representatives who will take the floor: policy officer Postulski from the European Commission will address the European judicial training strategy as a tool to enhance the awareness of the Charter; EESC councillor José Antonio Moreno Díez will present the European perspective on the enhancement of the application of the Charter at national level.

Then, it will be the turn of three Italian professors: prof. Salvatore, prof. Buratti and prof. Tiberi. Topics discussed include rules of procedure for preliminary rulings for the protection of fundamental rights, training on European fundamental rights in the law schools and potential infringements of the Charter. Afterwards, the perspective of judges will be offered thanks to the presence of Mr. Dechev, who will focus on the independence of seconded judges.

Finally, Dr. Toggenbrug from the EU Fundamental Rights Agency will offer an insight on the future of the Charter. The conclusions of the conference will include also few words from training participants, who will explain what they have learnt and brought with them after joining the past seminars.
